Bet365 is looking for new IT staff to accommodate increasing traffic (video)

Bet365 CTO Martin Davies shared with a UK publication that he is looking to add to its technical staff to address increasing transactions and traffic.

Recent weeks saw an impressive increase of online gaming transactions and general traffic turnover at Bet365. In order to cope with the increases CTO Martin Davies is looking to hire specialists to form a team of software developers and network engineers.

New recruits will allow the gaming giant build a highly efficient IT platform as well as augment overall innovation level at Bet365. The new IT team is expected to perform as a separate unit, focusing on future developments. Existing IT employees will take care of ever increasing traffic.

Davies commented: “We are looking for people that can come and look at the way we do things at the moment with an open mind. We want to have people not constrained by one piece of software. We are looking for people who look at a problem and say what do I need to solve the problem? We want the best way of solving the problem, rather than what they already know.”

The current online casino software writing techniques, focused on the multi-threading model, doesn’t seem to do the trick for Bet365, and Davies hopes that new recruits will be able to make the software run faster and much more efficient.

He continued in his interview: “We currently have computers with 80 CPU cores and next year we will have 160 CPU cores. The issue is the software isn’t going quicker because you have more CPUs. You have to change the way you write the software.”

Last year Bet365 invested GBP 60 million in IT alone, according to Davies.
