Betfair COO leaves the company

Niall Wass is on the move from online sportsbook Betfair after he wasn’t appointed to lead the company.

Former Paddy Power’s COO Breon Corcoran was recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of Betfair, surpassing the top contender for the job, Nial Wass. Wass served as Chief Commercial Officer for eight years at Betfair and was a candidate for top job.

However Wass was overlooked and a rival exec got the job. Naturally Niall wasn’t happy with the board’s decision and decided to call it a day at the sportsbook. And anonymous source within Betfair is rumored to have confirmed the departure and said: "Niall played a key role in bringing Betfair to where it stands today and we wish him every success in the future."

Wass is reported to be joining short-term loan provider Wonga as their Chief Operating Officer. Errol Damelin, CEO and founder of Wonga commented: "I'm delighted to welcome Niall on board and he will be a real asset as we continue to build a world-class consumer and technology business."

Despite turmoil with exec movement in recent months, business is as usual at Betfair with great sports betting offers being provided to members. The sportsbook covers virtually any sporting event on the planet and treats punter to great promotions and hefty bonuses.
