Betfair secures new CEO from rival operator

Following growing rumors Betfair gambling operator officially presented Breon Corcoran as the new CEO.

The 40-year-old was successfully snatched from rival Paddy Power, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Betfair ended their five-month search for the CEO, which started when David Yu decided to step down.

Corcoran has only filled the COO position at Paddy Power last year, his high point of the nine-year career with the sports betting operator. During the span of his stay at Paddy he headed online, mobile and Australian operations extremely successfully. Before he started with the sportsbook, he earned his bread with J.P. Morgan.

CEO of Paddy Power, Patrick Kennedy, commented on Corcoran’s departure: "Breon has made a strong contribution to the development of Paddy Power over the past 10 years and we thank him for this. We wish him success in the future."

Breon Corcoran himself commented his appointment: "Betfair's unique technology provides the company with a fantastic position in the online gaming industry and I believe it has a bright future ahead of it. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead the company and look forward to working closely with the Betfair team to grow the business further."
