Betfair’s sponsorship of Cypriot football club Apollon extended

Apollon Limassol first division Cypriot football club is sponsored by Betfair since August 2011, yet the sportsbook has already extended the deal further.

Following the signing of the Cypriot club back in August this year, Betfair extends the sponsorship agreement becoming the club’s major sponsor. This move will guarantee much more exposure for the renowned online sportsbook as Betfair logo moves onto the Apollon jersey.

In addition, Betfair’s branding will be displayed at Apollon’s Tsirion Stadium, as well as the club’s web page and all other media and marketing materials. Betfair will also be able to use Apollon’s players and management in its marketing efforts and promotions.

Betfair’s representative for Cyprus and Greece, Teemu Lehtinen, commented: “This deal is a clear statement of our intent when it comes to investing in Cypriot sport for the long term. We’re determined to play a proactive and responsible role in Cyprus going forward, with investment in local sport playing a big part in that.”

He went on to add: “Football is Betfair’s core product, and we’re delighted to extend our deal with Apollon, a respected, ambitious team in a football league which is rapidly on the rise.”

Chairman of Apollon, Pavlos Aristodemou, told media: “Cypriot football is on the up and investment from reputed, global businesses like Betfair will only help us continue on our upward trajectory. If ourselves and other Cypriot football teams are going to compete against Europe’s elite, investments such as this in our game are crucial.”
