The annual Internazionali BNL d’Italia is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, and is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour.

This men’s clay court competition is held every year in Rome. The 2010 event is scheduled to kick off on Monday April 26, and will last through the first week of May. Online sportsbooks around the world have already published their odds for the first few days of the event, and will continue to update the listings as the tournament progresses.

The first event in this series was held in 1930 in Milan, but moved to the Foro Italico in Rome just a few years later. The series saw a hiatus between 1936 and 1949, but in 1050 it started up again, and has been held every year since. At the time, it was known simply as the Italian Open, and it retained this name up until 2002.

2010 is a special year for Italian tennis. The Italian Tennis Federation (FIT), which was established in Florence in 2010, is celebrating its 100th year anniversary. A special exhibition has been set up at the Foro Italico to commemorate the occasion. The free exhibition will be open throughout the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, and is free of charge to the public.

In recent years, Spain’s Rafael Nadal has dominated the event, winning four times during the last five years. Nadal already spoke about the event at a recent press conference. “It’s a very difficult tournament and the best in the world are here,” he said. Nadal spoke shortly after his nemesis, Roger Federer. Federer gave his usual praise of Nadal, conceding “I suppose he is the number one on clay.”

Whoever players favor for the 2010 Internazionali BNL d’Italia, they can put money down on the event at online sportsbooks around the world. Bettors in France across Europe are advised to use Bet365 Sports, while those in the US should check out Bodog, Brobury Sports or BetUS Sportsbook. Each of these trusted online sportsbooks offers their own odds and lines, players may want to shop around to find a system that most benefits them.
