Microgaming Poker Network created a new Network Management Board (NMB) to offer control of development and operations of the network.
The new control board will essentially feature a single representative from the major operators on the Microgaming Poker Network. The board will also comprise of a representative from the company's network games team and a chairman coming from within the industry. His identity has not yet been announced.
Operators on the board and software company will be sharing votes on key decisions, with proportional shares coming from a formula agreed by the voting members of the NMB. The board members will additionally decide the criteria for membership of the body. The chairman and consulting industry experts will become non-voting members.
The key responsibilities of the NMB will comprise of constructing the development roadmap, the setting of network-wide policies and regulations for marketing and rakeback, including fines for breaches, and the scheduling of network-wide promotions.
The creation of the NMB is one part of a project to turn the Microgaming Poker Network into what is referred to as a Sportsbook Poker Network, where all members contribute towards the success of each other and to overall success of the network.
The first meeting of the NMB is scheduled for early November this year. Microgaming's head of Network Games, Lydia Melton, commented: “Poker is a difficult industry in which to operate, and that difficulty is heightened when operators are not in control of their own destinies.”
She continued to say: "By establishing the Network Management Board, we are essentially ceding control of the Microgaming Poker Network to the primary operators on the Network. Microgaming is a technology company with over 15 years of experience in this industry, and we will continue to develop and progress our poker software, as guided by the NMB, with no reduction in resources or drive."
