In week 14 of the 2010 NFL betting season, the word will be “visiting,” as in “visiting teams and why you should bet on them.”
By happy coincidence, many of the league’s best and/or those fighting for a lower-tier playoff spot are away teams favored by a few points at Brobury Sports online sportsbook – and probably should be more heavily backed.
The New England Patriots, currently indisputably the NFL’s top team, go to Chicago to take on the cruising Bears. Surely Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the boys won’t hand Dah Bears the kind of shellacking they did to the Jets on Monday night, but that minus-3 pointspread still seems low. Jay Cutler is exactly the sort of QB the classic Belichick defenses have feasted on and this is looking like a classic Belichick defense.
The New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the outside looking in for playoff spots. The Giants are minus-3 at Minnesota while the Bucs are just minus-2 at woeful Washington. The Vikings should not be trusted by any who would wager at this point, no matter how well they and Tavaris Jackson played against the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Brobury Sports: What gives with that minus-2 line? Have you seen Washington play lately? Fighting to contend, the Buccaneers should destroy in the capital.
Perhaps the only iffy away favorite this week are the Philadelphia Eagles. One wonders if all the Pro Bowl/MVP talk surrounding Michael Vick will go to the man’s head; despite the hype and some individual brilliant performances, Vick has been wildly inconsistent and the Eagles are hardly an invincible powerhouse. They’re going to Dallas this week, where the Cowboys have found new life post-Wade Philips. (Seriously, though, couldn’t Jerry Jones have replaced Philips in the preseason with a cardboard box and done better?) The Eagles are just 3.5-point favorites at Brobury Sports in a classic “trap game” scenario.
