Poker Stars published results of WCOOP

No surprise as the numbers of this year’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) at Poker Stars are down on 2010 totals.

Economic situation and the US legal turmoil, known as Black Friday, are apparently to blame for decrease in WCOOP numbers this year, according to Poker Stars representatives. Only 118,832 competitors participated in the event this year compared to 141,126 poker fans in 2010.

WCOOP 2011 had a total of $47,120,800 in prize pool over the three weeks of the event. $7,789,589 was shared among the first place winners, leaving generous amounts of money for the remaining players.

Winner’s bracelets went to a multitude of countries, revealing the spread of interest in Poker Stars championship. Russians won the most of the bracelets - 10, with British players second on 8. 7 bracelets went to the Netherlands and the Canadians scooped 6.

Polish poker fans came out with 4 winners, Danish and Norwegian poker enthusiasts took home 3 bracelets each, and the bottom of the table is represented by Australians, Brazilians, Finns and Swedes with two bracelets for each country.

Countries scoring one bracelet each included Austria, Mexico, Belgium, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Lebanon, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, Romania and Spain.
