Viktor Blom, a 20-year-old Swedish professional poker player has stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself as the infamous Isildur1.
This exposure was somewhat inevitable since Isildur1 decided to attend the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island without wearing a ski mask throughout the poker completion. Viktor came as a member of Team PokerStars Pro, wearing PokerStars iconic patch.
Isildur1’s secret identity wasn’t a complete surprise to everyone as speculators have been guessing at his identity since he first came to fame with a combination of luck and skill has brought him both incredible victories and incredible defeats, both winning and losing millions playing at various online poker sites. Among those who wagered on the proposition, Viktor Blom was favoured.
Since December, poker players have been able to play in a heads-up match with Isildur1 in PokerStars SuperStar Showdown. At this time, he joined Team PokerStars Pro and the online poker site started teasing that his true identity would soon be exposed.
When queried why he joined PokerStars, Viktor retorted “It's the biggest site – they do things right...You can find every game on the site, from one cent to really high stakes. I really like to play the best and improve – that’s why I joined Team PokerStars.”
While an amazing player, Viktor conceded without false modesty that he isn’t unbeatable, confessing “I need to learn to be more patient. I need to learn to let go of some more hands,” he said. “I want to have some good live results and maybe win an EPT.” This was proven big time when last November, Isildur1 also lost an astounding $3 million, the biggest hand in the history of poker, in a face off against Patrick Antonius at Full Tilt Poker.
Players who want an opportunity to beat Viktor before his mastery is complete should join PokerStars. Beyond being Viktor’s regular online poker den, Poker Stars is the 2009 and 2010 Jackpot Finder Awards winner for Best Poker Tournaments and Best Poker Traffic. This year, they also won the JPF Award for Best Poker Room. New players receive a 100% first-deposit bonus up to $600, paid in installments while players earn VPP by wagering on raked poker hands.
