Tottenham Hotspur could surely use Phil Neville and/or David Beckham this week, as the side looks to gain ground on undefeated Manchester United in Premier League betting action on Sunday.
Unfortunately, both rumored transfers have yet to be completed and online sportsbooks BetUS, Bodog and Bet365 reckon a draw might be the best Hotspur will do.
Hotspur is a single draw (and thus one point) better than Chelsea and this side sits in fourth place, though a big eight points behind undefeated Manchester United. White Hart Lane venue aside, Tottenham gets just 15/8 odds to win from Bodog and Bet365 (BetUS has the home team at 37/20) while Manchester United is favored everywhere: 29/20 at BetUS, 6/4 at Bet365 and just 7/5 at Bodog.
While Becks will probably be watching from the sideline, Tottenham is still able to bring their entire current roster. Happily for the Red Devils (and unfortunate for the rest of the Premiership), Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic are back from injuries. Bodog’s “goalscorer” proposition bet puts Rooney at 6/4 to find the back of the net, placing him up there with Jermain Defoe (7/4 to score) and Dimitar Berbatov (7/5).
The saving grace for Tottenham Hotspur – should Harry Redknapp concoct an aggressive enough Spurs attack – may be Tomasz Kuszczak’s presence in the net in substitution for Edwin van der Sar. While Kuszczak is no slouch, van der Sar shut out Spurs, 2-0, in October. Bet365 seems to be anticipated some scoring: On a 2.5-goal over/under, this online sportsbook says it’s 1/1 odds this match goes over – and 4/5 that it’s under.
