Senator Xenophon proposed to ban exotic bets at Australian sportsbooks

Australian sports betting scandals are taken one step further by anti-gambling Senator Nick Xenophon.

Latest string of scandals concerning online sportsbooks in Australia continues with proposals to ban all “exotic bets”. Heavy anti-gambling campaigner, Senator Xenophon expressed his view that such wagers should be prohibited altogether.

Xenophon commented: “When you have something like exotic betting, ball-by-ball betting, so-called micro-betting, that really does give macro opportunities for corruption. I think if the AFL is serious about this, if it wants to show leadership, it needs to say no more ball-by-ball betting.”

Until the proposals meet some official backing by lawmakers punters can still enjoy a variety of betting propositions for Australian sporting events.
