All across the nation, from young teenagers to senior citizens, people are placing bets on one of America’s favorite gambling pastimes – poker.
Many of these bets are small, but the hands that are big make up for the difference. Online poker with electronic bank accounts may seem different to players, but the money is real. Recently the biggest hand in the history of online poker was played at Full Tilt Poker.
On Monday night, Patrick Antonius faced off with a new online player from Sweden, “Isildur1.” The 2 played at four tables of $500/$1,000 pot-limit Omaha. Isildur1 may be new to the scene, but he’s apparently knows the game of poker very well as he stripped one of Full Tilt Poker’s newest members of $4 million recently. After initially putting a hurting on Antonius, Isildur1 ended up losing over $3 million to him including the biggest hand ever seen online.
At the finale of the game, which had been dominated by pretty large hands anyway, was composed of over $400,000. In the last hand, Antonius bet $48,000 and Isildur1 raised to $192,000. Antonius then moved all-in for $415,479.50 and was called by Isildur1, creating the largest pot in online poker history at $878,958.50.
