UK-based Ladbrokes operates one of the longest running sports betting operations in the world. The company was founded in 1886, though back then they dealt only with horse races. When UK gambling laws changed in 1961 they spread out to become a full bookmaker. The company has grown with the times, and today operates one of the world’s premiere online sportsbooks. Their expertise shines through, and the quality of services they offer is outstanding.
Events
Punters will be hard-pressed to find an online sportsbook with a broader event coverage than Ladbrokes. Bets are available on all major national leagues from American hockey to Euro football (though US college events are not covered). Ladbrokes also specializes in a number of smaller sports as well, from handball and snooker to national events like trotting and futsal (indoor football). All event categories are clearly listed along the left side of the Ladbrokes website, and players can create a custom menu of their Favorites for easy access.
Bets
Ladbrokes’ revolutionary one-click betting system lets players send basic wagers straight to their betslip with minimal effort. The expanding betslip is beautifully designed, and is very easy to read. The range of bets available is fantastic – they offer everything from singles, doubles, and accumulators to yankee, heinz, patent, and countless others. Many bet types are specific to individual sports. Football matches, for example, can have 20 or more bets available, from Correct Score to Goal Time Quatro. Ladbrokes also offers a good Live Betting system covering football, basketball, tennis, and other major events. In all, there are several thousand unique wagers available at any given moment.

Customer Support
Ladbrokes’ customer support system is one area that could use some work. No live chat service is offered, which is surprising for a site of this size. Telephone support is available, with freephone numbers for players in the UK and Singapore; players in other countries must dial internationally. Email support is also available, and the response time is reasonably fast. For players who prefer to help themselves, a very complete online help and FAQs section provides lots of useful information.
Banking
A simple chart found on the Ladbrokes website outlines all the most essential information about their banking procedures. The cashier accepts major credit and debit cards along with PayPal, NETeller, ClickandBuy, and UKash. Other banking methods available are Bank Transfer, Western Union, MoneyBookers, and direct deposits via Ladbrokes shops. The minimum deposit amount is either £5 or £10, depending on the method used. For withdrawals, the minimum amount is usually £10. All methods are free with the exception of Western Union.
Conclusion
Ladbrokes made some major changes to the look and function of their website just before this review was put together, and the new site is very clean, professional, and easy to use. The range of event types and bet types available is astonishing. One thing that players should note, however, is that they won’t receive very personalized service with a sportsbook as large as this – their lack of sportsbook bonuses is a good example of this. But as far as variety goes, Ladbrokes is tough to beat.
