Roulette Strategy
In roulette (European or American), there are no sure fired strategies that will give a player an edge over the casino. Every spin of the wheel brings the same chances and odds, independent of the last spin. Every possible bet carries a casino edge. Players should keep this in mind when looking over the popular systems which punters have used in the past.
Red/Black Roulette System
The red/black strategy is a form of Martingale (double up on successive bets) system and is quite well known. Bets using this strategy are based on either red or black and pay out 1 to 1. A player’s chances of winning each bet are under 50/50. The house always has an edge due to the 0 and 00.
Players begin by choosing either red or black and placing their bets. The first bet should always be small. If a player wins, they should keep the winnings and place the starting bet once again. In the event of a loss, the player should double their stake and bet on the same color again. If the player wins, his/her net result after 2 bets is the same as it would be had he/she won the initial bet. The winnings should be kept and the player should start with the initial stake once more. If the second bet loses, a player should double the stake and continue to do so until the color does come up, bringing him/her to a net win equivalent to a starting bet’s win.
It is very important to start with a small bet. After losing a few bets in a row, the bet amount can be quite large. A player must be prepared to continue to double up until a win has occurred. Be aware of the table limit. If a player reaches the table limit before a win, there may be a considerable loss.
5 Number Roulette System
The 5 number roulette system calls for straight-up inside bets which get paid 35 to 1 in a win. A player places bets on 5 individual numbers (0 and 00 are also inside numbers). Any five numbers will do being that they all have the exact same chance of winning. Find a game where the minimum bet is $5 and buy $40 in $1 chips. With this system, a player hopes to get lucky 2 times consecutively.
Players should start by placing one chip on each of the five chosen numbers. The wager should be repeated until there’s a win – players will have enough chips eight tries ($40/$5 = 8). When the ball stops on a player’s number, 35 chips are won. If these chips are divided over the 5 number fields, there will be seven on each. Another hit will pay of $245! No matter what the outcome of this final roll, a player should, at this point, stop. Smart gamblers know when to quit.
