Sit and Go tournaments do not have a scheduled start time. A Sit and Go begins as soon as there are enough people registered at a table. If the number of people required for the Sit and Go tournament to start is ten, then the tournament starts as soon as the tenth player joins. This, for example, is one of the reasons Intertops can offer them 24 hours and have become so popular.

Intertops Sit and Go tournaments have fixed payouts that the top few finishers get. SnG tournaments are single-elimination or knockout tournaments where the loser of each match is immediately eliminated. That is another reason for their popularity. While many multi-table tournaments last many hours, even a 9-handed Sit and Go normally finish in less than an hour. This makes it easy for players to get into action without a long-time commitment.
