Without a doubt, Stanley Ho was the Godfather of Macau casinos. Having gone to the island at the end of the Second World War with just $10 in his pocket, he was already a millionaire by the age of twenty thanks to a keen eye for gambling. Interestingly enough, he never gambled himself, claiming that gambling was for the domain of the casinos, not the owners. In 2020, Stanley Ho died. Unfortunately for his huge family of 17 children, by four different women, this makes succession very difficult.

Macau is certainly the largest gambling hub in the world. But it's not just casinos. There is a huge sports betting business, though in truth a lot of it is illegal, it still goes on.
