• 80s Las Vegas – The Struggles and Triumphs of It’s Casinos

    The 1980s were a miserable time for the gambling city of Las Vegas. The OPEC oil crisis meant that unemployment rocketed. At the same time, New Jersey handed out casino gambling licences in Atlantic City, meaning fewer players would bother to take the long trip across to Sin City. But some casinos owners were not put off and proceeded to build newer, larger and better gambling hotels and resorts in downtown Las Vegas. Though a huge financial gamble at the time, they all paid off handsomely.
