Thanks to getting a head start in the gambling industry in the 1940s, WMS Gaming was able to grow and expand its business until it became one of the largest casino games manufacturers. Because they started out producing pinball machines, they were able to retool their factories in order to produce the casings needed for a new generation of slots machine. In 2013, they were bought out by Scientific Gaming and since then have gone from strength to strength.

In many ways, there's a symbiotic relationship at work in the professional arts. For example, after a video game has been out for a few months, you can see the movie studio taking an interest in whether there's cross-over potential. After all, if you already have millions of young people playing the game, then they are ready-made fans of any movie featuring their beloved video game. Unfortunately, they tend to be awful, as translating the playing experience into film often doesn't translate.
