For example, after a video game has been out for a few months, you can see the movie studio taking an interest in whether there's cross-over potential. After all, if you already have millions of young people playing the game, then they are ready-made fans of any movie featuring their beloved video game. Unfortunately, they tend to be awful, as translating the playing experience into film often doesn't translate.
