Dan Bilzerian Fired by GGPoker

The serial misogynist and pretend poker expert, Dan Bilzerian has finally had his sponsorship withdrawn from GGPoker. More fittingly this happened on International Women’s Day. Quite why he was signed in the first place is a mystery. But it certainly was one of the most offensive signings in the history of the game of poker. In December 2020, many poker aficionados were in shock to see the completely useless and unsuitable Bilzilian sign to GGPoker. The foolish and short-sighted thing was that he was to be the website’s ambassador. Yet his very first post on social media was something that the company regretted instantly. It was a demeaning and sexist reply to Vanessa Kade, a long time player who was unhappy with his tone-deaf signing.

A History Of Being A Dick

It’s questionable whether the Bilarian has thick skin. Or is simply thick. But the backlash that followed this appeared to have zero effect on him. Remember this is the guy who kicked a woman in the face in a nightclub. He also criticised the “me-too-movement.” Remember the time when he threw a model off a roof into a swimming pool. She didn’t quite make it and ended up breaking her ankle. Of course, he pays all these women huge sums of money to be around him in all his pathetic Instagram posts. It’s unfortunate that his empty flexing on social media probably influences many young boys. Just looking at the number of followers he has tells us that his playboy lifestyle is certainly persuasive to very young minds. After all, it’s all guns, babes, supercars, mansions and jackpot games.

Dan Bilzerian: Help From Daddy

You have to remember when people were asking Bilzerian about how he made his fortune. He said it was through playing jackpot poker. Yet everyone who’s played with him can attest to the fact that he is a terrible player. We can be certain, in spite of what he claims, that he didn’t win the jackpot online or at the casino. The truth is that the money came from a trust fund from his dad. The father stole the money when he was working in banking. He actually went to prison for it. Furthermore, he was meant to pay back $62 million in restitution. On his release, the father immediately set up in an offshore location. He paid around $3 million towards his debtors and promptly “forgot” about the rest. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where Dan gets his poker bankroll from.

Sexist Loser

GGPoker, perhaps trying to take advantage of his social media clout, decided to sign him up as an ambassador for their company. Unfortunately, Bilzerian ended up doing nothing to promote the site. In truth, his association with poker was detrimental to the website’s reputation. An example of his idiocy was his “Birthday Bash Free Roll” which was to celebrate his signing with the company. The winner was guaranteed a heads-up match with the self-proclaimed poker genius. Yet when the winner turned out to be Alex O’Brien, an English woman amateur player, Dan Bilzerian could not be found. The man who can’t play poker to save his life simply couldn’t bare the shame of possibly losing to a woman player.

Phil Nagy Steps In

Always on the lookout for publicity, America’s Card Room boss, Phil Nagy, took over the role of Bilzerian. He offered Alex O’Brien a $10,000 match against any ACR poker pro of her choice. Well, O’Brien chose the one and only Vanessa Kade. To show just how out of tune GGPoker was, they had actually dismissed Vanessa Kade as a GGPoker representative simply because she spoke out against Bilzerian’s signing. In a ridiculous turn of events, it turned out that Kade’s account was cancelled on International Women’s Day last year. As you can imagine the fallout from this was considerable.

GGPoker did man up and released a statement. But it was wishy-washy. Even today, no one in the community accepts it. And that includes all the poker media who found GGPoker’s behaviour reprehensible. Rather than doing any business with GGPoker, we suggest that head over to the excellent King Billy Casino. Better games with better people!

Dan Bilzerian: Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish

Today Bilzerian is no longer on the GGPoker website. Not only that, but all traces of him have disappeared. Including his photos, his bio and all mention of his ridiculous fake character. Interesting enough, GGPoker hasn’t yet commented on the disappearance. But we feel that the timing is certainly a nod in a positive manner towards their appalling behaviour towards both Kade and O’Brien. That Bilzerian was quaking in his designer boots at the prospect of having to play these female superior players says everything about what a sexist loser he really is. We feel he might be better off learning to play poker online. By going to King Billy Casino, which is the best site to play poker, he could use the free play option to better himself. If he wasn’t so lazy and entitled.

Tone Deaf GGPoker

Right now GGPoker is trying to write their mistakes. It has introduced an initiative called “Fantastic Ladies in Poker” (FLIP), “the poker world’s foremost female-focused player community.” The problem here is that by creating such an institution, they are in many ways, overcompensating. Perhaps it would have been better just to leave everything alone. There’s a general consensus that the very minute after Dan Bilzerian was signed to GGPoker, they realised they made a big mistake. But such was the terms of the contract, it was impossible to dump him immediately.

The professional poker community is still waiting for Mia Culpa from GGPoker. Unfortunately, there’s a consensus that the company has proved itself to be both immature and tone-deaf to what’s happening in the world. To fire players like Vanessa Kade, simply for calling out their poor choice of signings, shows that they still have a long way to go in terms of social responsibility.
