World Series of Poker

Price: Free to play

Without a doubt, this is the best “freemium” poker app out there. OK, that’s a pretty strong recommendation, but such is the game play and quality, we think you’ll agree. You can play the classics of Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker. Also you can link up and play online against other players, meaning that your poker world came stretch across the globe. There’s also a facility to be able to play on the web via either Facebook or the apps official site. Every four hours, you’ll receive free poker chips and they even have some online slots if you want a change of player action. It does what is says on the box, and better than most of the opposition. It’s clearly the winner of our top ten poker apps for Android.

Appeak

Price: Free with in-app purchases

A relatively new player in the online poker app market place. Appeak boasts of having over 100,000 active players. OK…that’s a pretty round number so paint us a little cynical. Never the less the games are fun, with plenty of in game challenges to keep you busy. It runs on a simple UI that gives you 700 free poker chips each day. There are also sit down tournaments along with regular poker games. A good point to keep in mind is that this app doesn’t try to drain your bankroll as quickly as some others. A great app, more especially if you like playing with other people. However, if you would like to win real cash you should check the online jackpot sites.

Governor of Poker 3

Price: Free with in-app purchases

This is a pretty run of the mill offering for an Android app. Nothing so bad, but also nothing to write home about. Yes, there are a ton of play types and features. But, hey, what app doesn’t have that? You’ll find six types of poker games including the ever popular Texas hold’em. There are also Blackjack games should you want a change of scenery. You get gifted poker chips every few hours or so. You can also play the games via Facebook or Steam, and on the web. There are complaints circulating about this apps poor odds of winning. We never played long enough to test this, but bare it in mind in case things don’t pan out.

Mega Hit Poker

Price: Free to play

There are a decent number of free chips and tournaments to keep anyone happy. Having said that, the app itself is nothing special against others in our top ten poker apps. Yeah, it’s above average, but that’s not gonna make this a deal breaker. There are various game modes, some slots machines and various social interactions available, but don’t go getting too excited. You can also record your games for future playback. One point it does make though, is that it claims to run a RNG from iTech Labs, which guarantees randomness across all the game plays. In truth, it really doesn’t make any difference to the viability of the app, but it’s a nice marketing touch. A usable little app. Give it a whirl.

Zynga Poker

Price: Free to play

This is the Marmite of Poker gaming apps. You either love it or hate it. With Zynga Poker there’s nothing in between. It does everything it says on the box, and does them all well enough. You can play with real people and there are any number of game varieties and tournaments you can play in order to meet with them. Some complain that there is no form of RNG at all, as it’s virtually impossible to beat. We don’t know about that. But if you want to be winning, then maybe this app is not for you. It belongs in the middle of our top ten poker apps.

Video Poker Offline

Price: Free to play

This is the most basic of apps. A “freemium” app like many, it does somethings better than most. There is both online and offline support with languages in Chinese, English and Spanish. Several gaming modes are available and then there’s the UI. Simple is the word here. The mechanics of it all work well, but don’t go expecting top notch graphics or game play. Having said that, it’s Google Reviews are all full of praise and everyone and their mum seems to like it. So, what do we know?

Offline Poker

Price: Free to play

Of all of our top ten poker apps for Android, this is the newest player to the marketplace. By far it’s biggest plus point is it’s offline games features. Once downloaded, you can play anywhere and at anytime, as you don’t need an internet connection for it to function. There is a six game multiplayer mode, along with fast folding, a player versus player mode, and all played with a pretty basic UI. We found the AI a little tetchy, but it could definitely be beaten. The online community give the app two thumbs up, so you should give it a try as well.

Poker 5 Card Draw

Price: Free to play

Yet another new app, Poker 5 Card draw is nothing special. It offers the same decent game play as most of the other apps in this review. But it’s definitely missing some pizzazz that would cause it to rise above the competition. Still, there’s a multiplayer mode for up to 8 players. The online play modes offer a pretty good selection of player options depending on your skill level. there’s a sweet training bot to help get you comfortable with all the games, which is a nice touch. The UI is a little on the clunky side, and the cards certainly don’t behave anything like real cards. We have a suspicion that the RNG is tweaked a little, and not in your favor. Gonna place it in the lower half of our top ten poker apps.

Poker Heat

Price: Free with in-app purchases

This was the only app to feature a league. You can join seven leagues and fight to be top dog. The app is once again a “freemium” one. It also has a “Friends or Strangers” feature for online play. Because it’s freemium, and they are not so generous with coins, you’ll find yourself waiting for the AI to throw you some free coins when you’ve run out. This can affect the game play. A fun game for sure, but not in the top half of our list.

Video Poker Classic

Price: Free to play

And last but least, yet another simple “freemium” poker app. They boast of having almost 40 game types and have some pretty realistic Vegas shuffling going on there as well. there are some free tokens every four hours, along with offline support and some other stuff we didn’t bother looking into. The UI is, let’s face it, pretty ugly, but it gets the job done. On the whole, the main selling point is gonna be the number of games. At least you’ll never get bored. All good stuff, but nothing to put it further up our list of top ten poker apps for Android. If you would like to learn more about online options. check out our best sites to play poker.
